Powerstore VS eCart

Powerstore VS eCart

I need to add a store to my existing site which would make me lean towards eCart verses PowerStore for 2 reasons:
1. I already have a site design
2. eCart has been updated more recently than powerstore

Reasons I would prefer powerstore would be the features that are already included:
!. Order History, Update with shipping confirmation with automated email, log in, users, add product... basically everything you need is already done and per our conversation you can easily update the theme to a custom theme. So then why would you want all the efforts required to create all these backend features.

Option 1 install Powerstore on my site in a directory store, and add the theme of my website to powerstore and use Powerstore for all shopping functions
Option 2 - Use eCart and Datassist for all products and obviously use existing theme.

Can you easily use the Powerstore Database with Datassist for custom pages?
Another question - Can you simply use Powerstore for the back end and DataAssist to show the products and somehow use the two together.

Powerstore is a complex web site built with Data Bridge v1 and eCart v5.

It would take a long time to re-create all of the functionality in Powerstore, but you probably don't need all of the functionality of Powerstore. It is possible to run DataBridge and eCart to create a store from the Powerstore database, but you wouldn't need all of the tables. You could definitely use it as a starting point, but some columns and tables probably wouldn't be applicable.

The features in powerstore are awesome! You say PowerStore has all the features of eCart 5 so from 5 to current version of eCart what are the critical things that are missing in PowerStore that are included in the current version of eCart?

To me it seems a no brainer to just use PowerStore and install a custom theme. Can you tell me in what case that would not be a good idea?
Is Powerstore SQLi?

Thank you,

The primary missing feature is MySQLi support. Powerstore still runs on MySQL.

Do you have a scheduled date to update PowerStore to MySQLi?

Thank you,

I don't have a date for it. I'm updating Design Extender first and then Powerstore after that. It will be several months.
