Reset encrypted password, what am I missing?

Reset encrypted password, what am I missing?

Discovered the password reset built with WA earlier this year doesn't work. When you click the link for the reset you get from the email, it takes you back to the forgot password page asking for the same email and security info just filled out.

I dumped the relevant security assist pages and attempted to rebuild with the wizard again. However, the wizard only emails the password and I couldn't find a setting to have the wizard create the appropriate password reset function. Emailing the password seems too insecure.

Lastly I modified the newly created forgotpassword.php page to eliminate the email password and add the email encrypted password, but once again with the link I'm left sent back to the forgotpassword.php page. I've tried finding what I need in the help section and the tutorial section but I'm just not finding what I need.

Can the "Create Security Pages" actual create the encrypted password reset function and not just the email password function and if so how do I have it do that? If not, is there a tutorial that covers how to set that up?

In the wizard, you can set up your password field with an type of encryption that can't be decrypted... like md5. Then it will create the forgot password page that resets the password rather than sending the password value in the email. Then you can go back in and update the actual encryption type for the update server behavior to match the type of encryption you want to use.

Thanks. I just wiped my existing security pages and rebuilt using md5. Now working like I had expected. My only issue I've found in all my testing, on the update page, if you update data but don't enter a new password, it deletes the existing password out of the database table. It's not supposed to do that is it? Shouldn't it leave it as is if you don't fill in the password fields on the update? I'm attaching a copy of the update page.

Go to the update server behavior and change the default action for the password field from "blank" to "ignore" and then it will work how you want.
