MySQLi update form has stopped updating

Hi Ray, I have a user update form which was generated using DataAssist mySQLi. It was working fine, but now seems to have stopped updating the database. I haven't touched the page for a while so not sure why, I only discovered the problem when I was testing it for a user. It redirects to the success message so looks like it's worked, but the database doesn't update. I've checked all the usual things i.e. that it's connected to the right table, all the column bindings are in place etc. I've attached a copy of the page for info.

I'd need FTP access and steps to reproduce the issue in order to debug this. I can't spot any obvious issues on the page.

Hi Ray, just wondered if you'd had a chance to look at this yet? Sorry to chase! :-)

I typed in a country and it saved, so it worked for me. Maybe just particular fields aren't working? What did you try to update?

The country field seems to be the only one updating - tried all the others and they wouldn't update. I wonder if it's therefore something to do with the form validations as that's the only field that doesn't require validation - will investigate.

I was able to update all of the fields just now. I just didn't update the username and password.

There appears to be different issues depending on which browser I use. I tried updating a couple of fields using Edge and it worked, BUT Edge isn't prepopulating the password fields which means that when you hit the Update button, it's wiping the password. I've noticed that there are a few users in the database where the password is blank so this is happening to others as well. I re-input the password and it saves it OK. Then when I go back to Chrome, the info I've updated appears for an instant but then it immediately changes back to the previous info! I assume this is a cookie issue in Chrome, however even after clearing the cookies it's still happening. I'm going to keep testing and will also run CCleaner to see if that sorts things out, but could you maybe see if this is also happening for you?

**UPDATE** I ran CCleaner, restarted and tried again and sure enough the form is now working in Chrome. However, I still have the same issue with Edge not pre-filling the current password value, which means that if you update without adding this in it will remove the password. Same issue in Firefox.

You can change your update server behavior and set the password field to "ignore" when blank. That way if the form is updated without entering a password it won't change the value already saved.

I've never noticed that you can do that! Great, that's solved the problem - many thanks!
