How can I convert my payment gateway from PayPal to Stripe?

Greetings WebAssist support,

Due to the upcoming changes in how PayPal handles refunds I would like to know how I can convert my payment gateway from PayPal to Stripe? The reason I would like to not use PayPal has to do with a very bad and greedy decision on their part to not refund merchants like myself the PayPal fee. From PayPal's website:

"If you refund a payment for goods or services, there are no fees to make the refund, but the fees you originally paid as the seller are not returned to you. The amount of the refunded payment will be deducted from your PayPal account."

I estimate that I will lose a lot of money in 2020 due to PayPal keeping their full 2.9% transaction fee, money which they did not earn nor have a right to. I thought that it was never happen, but PayPal just lost an almost 20 year customer. Any help in the way I can start migrating away from PayPal will be very helpful.

Regards,
Robert Crespo

You can change to Stripe by following their documentation, but unfortunately Stripe has the same refund policy: https://stripe.com/docs/refunds

"Stripe supports the ability to refund charges made to your account, either in whole or in part. If the original charge underwent currency conversion, the refunded amount is converted back using the same process. There are no fees to refund a charge, but the fees from the original charge are not returned."

They have the exact same fee structure as paypal... So you can move out of spite for them changing their policy on you, but it won't save you any money.

Ray, thank you for your reply to my question. Sadly, based on the information you provided, I will not be migrating out to Stripe. It looks like I will need to enact some very unpopular refund practices like refunding an order minus the original PayPal transaction fee. A customers buyers remorse is now going to cost them 3% of the money they paid me.
