Login and Restrict access to page not working

Login and Restrict access to page not working

My server recently updated to PHP 7.3.10. I'm rebuilding all the interactive database connection pages. But, I cannot get the restrict access to page from the login form to work. I always sends user to the redirect page. I've deleted all the Connection files, mmserverscripts and webassist files and reloaded new ones. I've attached the code on the two pages. What am I doing wrong?

The code looks correct to me, but it is easy to overlook something when trying to debug code by looking at a word document. Perhaps there is an issue with the session variable settings on the new server? If you send me FTP access then I could debug the actual pages and probably give more information.

It looks like your server isn't saving session variables properly in general.

I created two pages to demonstrate the issue. If you browse the page: set_session.php it sets a test session variable and links to a page in the member directory to retrieve and display the session variable value. You can see it doesn't work. You should be able to show these pages to your hosting provider and have them fix the underlying problem that your sub-directory doesn't share the same session as your site root.

Thanks!

Thanks for checking on this. My hosting service (Hostmonster) couldn't figure this out. Their customer service is not good anymore. Anyway, I found a work around. I moved the login form to the same subdirectory as the files I need to restrict access to. It's not very elegant. But, on a 10+ year old site, it works.

You can probably try calling your hosting service again. They are probably hit and miss when it comes to who answers the phone, but I'm glad you found a solution that will work for you.
