Just reloaded Sculptor..preview not working.

reinstalled twice...upgraded from 2.03...2.05 and still did not work. Also, searched for that wincache.dat file (can't remember exact spelling but did a copy and paste) and could not even find that file to delete. Any other suggestions.

Background...

IE was running slow so I decided to format the hard drive for a fresh start (I do this every several months) and reloaded all programs again...damn...alot of microsoft updates...

What version of IE do you have installed? Which version of Dreamweaver are you running? Also what other extensions do you have installed as well?

I have IE 8 (default)
Firefox 3.53
CS3

I only had menu writer and sculptor loaded.

I spoke with Laura and she is doing something for me...so I can go to the subscription format and upgrade to sculptor 3 which she indicated may solve this...but I am will to help currently with this while I wait for her email of completed paperwork. Maybe it could help someone else.

Ok, I just purchased the subscription and deleted all the extensions....which was only two if you looked at my previous post....sculptor2 and menu writer. Ok, so I loaded sculptor 3 and had the error come up .js thing...so I deleted the winfilecache file and that solved that problem...but...

I still have the original problem with the preview issue. Again, when I click on it...it does open a new window and it look right but the small preview is handy and needed. I would assume it must be something either with my setup IE or dreamweaver.

Do you have any security software or antivirus running that may cause an issue with the preview engine?

Ok, I am back and this is what I have dones so far (oh, I do have internet security 2009 by norton).

First tried the cache file again...nope.
Deleted all the modules, started dreamweaver, shutdown dreamweaver and then I renamed the config file. Started up dreamweaver and watch as the new config file pop in the folder. Then I loaded only sculptor 3. Again, no preview. So just for kicks I closed down again and deleted the cache file again...nope.

Ok...now I am serious as I also think it is my antivirus protection...big brother norton who can be a pain in the azz sometimes. So I just off both firewall and virus protection....nope. Then I added complete trust to dreamweaver...nope. So then I got mad and through the computer out the window...nope didn't do that...just making sure you are still reading. Anyways...I then took all my anger out on Norton and uninstalled it which my computer/windows did not like that with all the warnings...I almost felt Mr. Gates was going to knock on my door. Just in case you are wondering...I did not have any dsl cable or internet hooked up. Well guess what....even with no firewall or antivirus it still did not work. I don't know what to do although throwing it out the window would be fun.

Yes, throwing the computer out the window might be fun, albeit costly, but probably still fun. I wouldn't recommend it though.

The reason I asked about if you have any security/antivirus software running is because another user had the same issue, but it was caused by his security software.

Does this happen on all the preview engines in Sculptor or is it only in one or two of them?

I tried to read as many messages as possible to solve this problem. I also assumed it was norton as many times it has been. I just tried menu writer and that also does not have preview...although when click the new browser window does show the correct view...I guess.

As I mentioned before...it did work until I erase my entire drive and reinstalled everything. Where is this preview engine?

Like I said before...can't be norton since I uninstalled it then reloaded sculptor a fresh copy and it did not work....what about IE 8.

I meant does it work on any of the interfaces within Sculptor. Like color picker or CSS design.

It could be an issue with IE8, do you have the latest update to that? You can also try uninstalling and resintalling IE to see if that works.
