EU Strong Customer Authentication

Greetings WebAssist, I am wondering if, after September 14, 2019, that my websites shopping cart payments will fail due to the implementation of the European Unions two-factor authentication for online purchases? The EU is making it mandatory for all online sellers to use Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). Do you know if this will affect people like myself who use eCart to create my payment pages? How worried should I be that after September 14th, payments on my website will cease to function?

Regards,
Robert Crespo

What payment provider are you using?

I am using PayPal. I accept credit cards directly on my websites as well as offering a PayPal payment option on the checkout page.

Yes. It appears that you will need to sign up for an account with CardinalCommerce and integrate their "extra" security layer starting mid September to prevent any interruption in payments.

We have done cardinal commerce integrations in the past, so we should be able to help you with it here, or in a premier support ticket when you are ready to move forward..

Ray, thank you for this information about CardinalCommerce. However, before I go to the extra expense and work for this integration, will it really be necessary since 100% of my business is in the United States? In other words, is this the default e-commerce model for the U.S. after September 14th?

If I really do need CardinalCommerce integration I will need to hire you all to figure this out. Considering enhanced security is the future of all e-commerce you might need to make this option default for eCart.

This is only applicable for EU and not US merchants. You shouldn't have any problems if you only do sales within the US.
