Text destroyed on update record

Dear WebAssist,

I am having a persistent problem with losing data in my database after clicking the update button on a DataAssist built page. For example, a paragraph of text contained in one of my product table rows get shortened to just one sentence. This is very problematic, because, while I can create a new record, any changes to most of the rows in my table gets partially destroyed when I have to update the record. As you can see, this is a situation that I CANNOT live with. Interestingly enough, there is no text or data loss in the table row where I am using the WebAssist HTML editor interface. Any help you can provide to offer a solution to this data destruction issue will be most welcome.

Thank you,
Robert Crespo

I'll need to reproduce the error to debug the cause. This is not standard behavior, so I don't know what might be making it happen. I'll need FTP access and a URL with steps to reproduce the issue. That will allow me to add code to see what is happening and come up with a fix.

I can't seem to access the site via FTP. However, even if I could, I can't seem to reproduce the problem. I'm inserting multiple sentences into the description field and haven't had an issue. Maybe it has something to do with the specific content you are entering?

I'll need FTP access and steps to reproduce since both don't seem to be working for me currently.

I'll need help reproducing the issue. It looks like the blog I created still has multiple sentences and isn't truncated on the update page. Where should I be looking for the issue.

Please provide the exact text I should enter to see the problem and the steps and location I should be looking in order to see the issue. I'm missing something, so I just need help to see the problem.

Ray, when I copied the text from description of another blog post I recreated the issue. Please copy the contents of the previous blog post in the Desc field of the test blog post and you should see this happen. After you update the page one or two times the text of the desc area gets clopped off.

The issue was with having a double quote in the description. This issue has been fixed in recent versions of the rsobj.php file. You were using a very old version (v2.6). I've updated it to v2.26 and I believe that will fix this problem.

Ray,

Thank you very kindly for updating the rsobj.php file to the latest version. I will be sure to download a backup on my local server. I tested the update page multiple times and it looks like the page has been fixed once and for all. A hearty thanks!

You need to add the ,false argument to the getColumnVal() function to allow it to display html. Just go to that page and find the line that has:

$RecordsetName->getColumnVal("ColumnName")

and change it to:
$RecordsetName->getColumnVal("ColumnName",false)
