Update an inventory by a variable amount

Update an inventory by a variable amount

I want to have a limited balance of products in a sale and update this balance by reducing as items are sold which may be a variable amount per order. I can't see a way to do this in update record. Have I missed something or is it not possible?

In order to do this without any hand coding you would have to use a recordset to retrieve the current inventory. Then you can subtract the ordered amount from that before updating the database row.

Update inventory

Thanks Ray, you made me think. In the end I went for this which seems to work fine.

$UpdateQuery->bindColumn("TapBalance", "i", "".($rsiRugs->getColumnVal("TapBalance")) - $_POST["eCart1_4_Quantity_Add"] ."", "WA_DEFAULT");
