Converting code from 5.7 to php7

This is the page with the problem (on a testing site).

I get a generic error 500 on browser after I tried logging in using php 7 +.

This is a hand coded php file with hand coded database references. I couldn't debug this without direct FTP access. I'd start by adding this to the top of the page:

php:
<?php

ini_set
("display_errors",1);
?>

That should make the page give a true error message instead of the general 500 error.

the Display Errors line is there:

I created a fake db since I can't disclose connection with actual connection:

I'm not sure what folder the FTP gave me access to, but I can't seem to browse to the files in it. I'll need to be able to view and edit the files to debug them.

Thanks.

Let me know once you have the files in an area where I can reproduce the problem.

I will need your help to convert the code. Let me know if you are available tomorrow night. You can add the time you already spent on it. Thanks much! I can also do your afternoon but it would be no voice, just text messaging thru Skype (not at home - have boss sitting near me).

I can work with you tonight... What times are you available and what number should I call? Use the private area to respond.
