PowerCMS & mSQLi

I've just attempted to update a site running PowerCMS to mySQLi server behaviors. I updated all the recordsets and behaviors in the admin_cms folder and re-uploaded those files and the entire webassist folder, however I ended up with the white screen of death. Turning on error reporting gave me nothing, still a completely blank screen. Luckily I kept a copy of the original webassist folder so I've restored it for now, but just wondered if you could talk me the through the process of updating a PowerCMS site to mySQLi to ensure I haven't missed anything?

It would take a lot of work. There is a lot of hand code in powerCMS that would have to be updated manually. You are probably going to wait for us to release the next update of Design Extender, which we will update for mySQLi support unless you are extremely familiar with the code and hand coding in php.

Do you have a timescale for when the Design Extender update will be released? I use PowerCMS on every site that needs a CMS and I'm conscious of the fact that we still have to run these on PHP5 when I'm trying to upgrade all our client sites to PHP7.

I don’t have a definite timeline. I can only say that Design Extender is next on my list and it will be at least a few months to complete.

Good to know it's in the pipeline though!

Hi Ray, sorry to pester but is there any update yet on when Design Extender/PowerCMS will be updated for mySQLI? I've now got a couple of clients asking me to update their sites to PHP7 because it's showing as a critical security update, but I can't because they use PowerCMS. If you can give me a rough idea that would be great.

I have it updated locally. I'm working on adding a few new features and then I want to get Menu Writer updated as well so that the entire Design Extender suite is MySQLi compliant. I really can't give a date, but that is my update on my progress.

Sounds like it's coming along nicely! Thanks for the update and I look forward to the beta release!
