I can't understand how file manager work

Hello all,
I'm creating some admin pages using datassist pages.
In the last few months I created a set of search/results/update/insert page to manage users data and saved as preset. This worked well.
Today I added a new set of pages to manage the news on the website.
But I can't understand how to set the upload options.
In the insert/update form I have 2 file fields that should upload the files in a specific directory. I've set a specific subfolder but the files will be uploaded in the webassist/upload/news folder instead of /uploads/news folder.
Please note that I've set all admin pages in /admin folder while the main upload folder is /uploads
I've set the file fields as filemanager. is this right?
Where can I specify where to upload the files?
Curiously, if I set field type as HTML editor, it will not show the placeholder on the form in dreamweaver (but it actually works on online pages).
So, how can I edit HTML settings in dreamweaver?
Generally, what is the correct workflow to use datassist pages:
- create all pages and set all fields type (have I to set HTML editor fields here or leave them as text and apply the HTML editor later?)
- edit pages in dreaweaver and add the HTML editor instances to specific pages (I'll have to re-do all this if I recreate pages using datassist pages)

Any suggestion will be really appreciated.

If you are using the html editor then the upload folder is set with WebAssist->Forms->HTML Editor->Site Settings.

That updates the file:
webassist/kfm/configuration.php which will have to be uploaded after any settings are changed.

can I set a different upload forder for a different set of dataassist pages (ie: the set about the news management will upload to /uploads/news, while the set about curriculums will upload to /uploads/curriculum)?
And what about the filemanager fields type? where can I set the upload folder for these fields? Actually I solved using simple fiel fields; I just noticed that the file upload server behaviour can allow me to set the upload folder.
But, just out of curiosity, how to use the filemaneger file field type?

If you set the uploads folder to /uploads/ in the manager site settings, then you could set a sub-folder for individual fields like news and curriculum.
