blank PHP pages, loss of database connection, without knowingly making any changes

After leaving a site idle for a couple of years, I made a few changes to html text and css. Only recently, upon checking the PHP pages, did I find blank PHP pages.

http://www.affinitysounds.com/registration.php

The hosting service was kind enough to really this error response:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_pconnect() in /home/affinity/public_html/Connections/affinity_site_con.php:9 Stack trace: #0 /home/affinity/public_html/registration.php(4): require_once() #1 {main} thrown in /home/affinity/public_html/Connections/affinity_site_con.php on line 9

Because I only have a tourists command of the PHP language, could someone translate this for me? Only thing I can think of is that every time Dreamweaver updates, they lose part of the site definition.

Thanks!

It looks like someone updated your server to use php7 and your database code is only supported on php6 and below. Ask your hosting provider to downgrade your php version to v6 or below and it should fix this problem.

Thanks // database code upgrade? //Upcoming Databridge

Thanks Ray. That solved it.

Without detail, what's involved with updating the database code to PHP7?

Does the upcoming Databridge do any conversion, or would it involve exporting the data, and then importing to a new database?

Thank you.

The database doesn't change. The php code that connects to the database needs to be updated. The new version of Databridge will have upgrade paths for updating any database connections, recordsets, inserts, updates, and delete server behaviors to convert to mySQLi. You would still have to go through each page and convert them.
