Not able to connect to database on 1and1. I did make sure that it was set to php 5.6

I not able to set up security assist on a website. It appears that it can't find the database. I can't connect to the database from my machine. Any ideas?

Have a look at

to see how to connect to the database.

There can be many reasons why the connection does not work. One popular one is the local firewall that rejects the connection. Another is the peculiarity of the host settings. Without more info, this will continue to be a guessing game.

May I suggest that the first step is to get in touch with the host, 1and1, and ask for their assistance.

Please post the exact error and I might be able to give more advice. It is almost always an issue with the testing server site settings in dreamweaver.

HI Ray,

I have attached screen shots of the errors and settings

This is usually a bad testing server URL or default folder setting in your Dreamweaver site definition. If you export your site definition and send it to me I can import it and diagnose the exact problem.

It looks like your testing server is set to a locahost, however your connection information is pointing to your 1and1 server. Did you create a local database? Are you trying to connect to a local database or your live database? You will have to update your Dreamweaver testing server to point to the server where your database is located.

I set up the testing server to be the same as the live server but still no luck. should I trash the testing server?
