Need to create double opt-in for an existing mailing list

Need to create double opt-in for an existing mailing list

Hello all,

I do own DataBridge, but not sure how to accomplish this. My issue is not to create registration for a password-protected web site. I maintain a mailing list for a nonprofit organization's membership. The organization is almost 40 years old, and eventually we started collecting email addresses. Periodically we bulk-email our members. We do have EU members. Now that new rules are in place, we need to ask our members to double opt-in to our list to make sure we're in compliance with the new EU rules.

So I'm wondering if there is a ready-made solution out there for creating a simple form I can send to our members explaining why they have to fill out this form, then send us their name and email address, then process a confirmation email. As I understand it, I also have to be able to store the information in our MySQL user table: the name/email, the date they agreed to resubscribe, and the yes/no field.

Any help you can send my way would be greatly appreciated!

Double opt in is usually just an email with a link the user clicks to confirm their original opt in. To do this, first add a column to your database called "OptIn" and set the default value to "0".

You can use our Universal Email server behavior to send an email to everyone in your database and create a message in the email that asks them to click a link to confirm that they want to be part of the email list.

The link would then just go back to your website with the email address included as a URL parameter in the link. The page it returns to would update your database and set the "OptIn" column to "1" and have a simple thank you message.
