What version of PHP are you running? MySQLi was added in php5. You may have a previous version or don't have the MySQLi module installed.

Uncaught Error

I am using version 7 since my host provider has advised they will be discontinuing PHP 5.* in the near future and I'll need to convert my sites to MySQLi. I do have the latest MySQLi module installed, I purchased the MySQLi server behavior a couple of years ago from Webassist.

The error implies that mysqli is not available on the server.

Uncaught Error: Class 'mysqli_connect'

Can you create a page on your server with this code on it:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

Then send me a link to that page and I'll take a look.

Mysql isn't available if you have php version 7 or above. You may need to update the page to use mysqli instead.
