Dynamic Dropdowns

I'm trying to create a dynamic list from two tables (Model) + (Make) (see screenshot)

Searching this site returns many confusing and conflicting articles / tutorials / announcements

Some features are not in my Dreamweaver "Insert > Form > Select (List Menu)
Announcements that it is no longer available / is available

It's this I want http://www.webassist.com/dreamweaver-extensions/dynamic-dropdowns

But I can't find a simple tutorial with files. I've had a go myself using Create Dynamic Array, but I get the error (as shown in the screenshot)

Is this due to

• Table structure
• Recordset (Joining the two tables)

Any help in where a simple tutorial for creating this is - I'm totally lost with your website as to what is current and what is out-of-date?

For instance: http://www.webassist.com/tutorials/Getting-started-with-Dynamic-Dropdowns

I can't see any of the pop up windows available n this tutorial

Insert > Form > Select (List Menu)
was renamed to:
Insert > Form > Select

but it is still available.

I think the 406 error appears to be a mod_security setting you have installed preventing dreamweaver from retrieving database information. If you can give me FTP access to the server and your website url I can take a look and see if it is something I could fix.

I have removed the Dynamic Dropdown portion of the extension. The same functionality can be achieved with Framework builder and AJAX, and that is the preferred technique. I'll have to do a tutorial on how it is done. If you want to set up a screen sharing session with me I'll implement it for you so you can see how it works. That will give me a chance to test it at the same time. Just post your phone number in the private area. We should probably work on getting the 406 error fixed first to make sure it all goes smoothly.

It looks like your update page doesn't work because the connection file was placed too low on the page. Unfortunately Dreawmweaver does this sometimes and it has to be manually moved to the top. Moving line 44 to the top of the page should fix it.

In the all pages version I can see that a lot of the code that should be on the results page is on the update page. That is what is causing it to not work properly. This I haven't seen before. What version of Data Bridge and Dreamweaver were you running when this happened. Do you see any errors while the wizard runs? If you run the wizard again is this a consistent result?

It could possibly be related to the 406 error. I'll look into that now and see if I can find a solution. I am seeing that error.

While browsing through the forum, did I see a recent announcement from you regarding a Dropdown tutorial? Here's something I cobbled together from an ajax forum - it's pulling data from my database:

http://websitevisual.co.uk/index_menu.php

But I'd need to then implement it into the data assist pages - firstly I would imagine by changing the "display as: menu" in the field labels and form validation - this would need to go into the update and insert pages to (its a car dealership website). I can replace the current SELECT with a MySQLi generated recordset - to make them alphabetical order - hope fully that would be close.

I will have a play around with this over the weekend and see if I can do it - but obviously if you have a tutorial I will follow that!

I don't have a tutorial, but I could help with this in a premium support ticket if you need it.

I have someone working on the tutorial now. I should have something in the next week or two I’m hoping.
