Premium content Dreamweaver videos

Hi WA_guys,

Am feeling the pull of the extension library - every day something new, it seems. Are the new premium content Dreamweaver videos WebAssist produced/commissioned or are they the ones from Adobe.TV?

Incidentally, I checked out someone's suggestion of Bebo Forms to Go - this would make the perfect missing-half of CSS Form Builder - and Form Builder would be the perfect missing-half of Forms to Go. Any chance of you guys partnering up on this? You'd have a near-perfect product.

Which premium content videos are you referring to? If its the tutorials on how to use the tools, those are created by us.

There are no current plans to partner with them to work on a product. What functionality of Bebo Forms to Go were you interested in? If it is sending the form information through email, we have a product called Universal Email that will help with that.

Hi Jimmy, yes - I was referring to:

"Looking for more Dreamweaver video tutorials? WebAssist offers fantastic Dreamweaver video tutorials as premium content with the WebAssist Extension Library."

Are these tutorials different from the ones available to people who have purchased the products (but not a subscription)? I'm just still trying to weigh up the benefits of subscription!

The functionality of Bebo Forms to Go I'm interested in are manifold; too many to mention, but check them out at features - everything you could want, $30 the lot.

This is what I was hoping for when I bought (& then returned) CSS Form Builder - which cost considerably more. If you could build that functionality into Form Builder as ONE PACKAGE, there would be nothing to beat it. I think that some people might be disappointed - when buying a product - only to find that it leads to a chain of buying more products they need to buy to get where they want to go. It's confusing.

For instance On the The Form Builder forum , a guy - jm271908 - posted: "Now to find a way to email it (form) along with attachments. If I purchase Universal Email, would that allow me to email the form attached files?"

WA_Guy#1 (SOJO web) replied, "Yes... Universal Email can send attachments." (so, +1 extension).

A little further down the thread, WA_Guy#2 (Ray Borduin) says, "Above you are talking about uploading files and including them as attachments... That requires a third product: Digital File Pro." (so, +2 extensions)

I just think there needs to be more clarity. I do accept that it's all there in the descriptions if you have the time and mental agility to unravel the relationships of which app complements which, but . . . well, you know.

Maybe it's just me.

Cheers,

Neil H

Also:

When I see WA_blurb enticing me (existing customer) to do the subscription library thang with:

"WebAssist offers fantastic Dreamweaver video tutorials as premium content with the WebAssist Extension Library.",

It irks me to read in another thread:

Ray Borduin
WebAssist VP, Technology

"It is a subset of the tutorials and templates that we used to sell separately, now included as part of the library. There are no new tutorials specific to this update it is all packaging and pricing changes, and no product updates... I will try to get together a list of the exact ones."

What if an existing customer joined the subscription scheme for access to this 'fantastic' content, only to find it was the 'same old' content?

I would get the list together pretty quickly, if I were you.

Premium Content

The premium content included is listed on the features tab of the extension library page:
extension-library/

There are 4 templates and 1 starter kit currently included. The plan is to extend this list over time, just as our current extensions come with the subscription - and those will be expanded over time. I believe these have been listed since the subscription program went live so I don't think there should have been surprises around this content for buyers.

To answer the original question on this thread, we produce our own starter kits (tutorials).

OK, thanks Anna. How many of the four templates and 1 starter kit are 'fantastic Dreamweaver video tutorials' ? It was some information of these fantastic Dreamweaver video tutorials that I was trying to find out about. It seems that nobody at WA is willing to give out any information on these, and that the only way to find out is to sign up for the subscription.

Look, I'm sorry to go on, but if you are going to use that as an enticer, then you - or someone at WA - should be able to give rather more information about it.

Perhaps I'm just not making myself clear. An easy questionnaire:

In response to your 'teaser': "Looking for more Dreamweaver video tutorials? WebAssist offers fantastic Dreamweaver video tutorials as premium content with the WebAssist Extension Library."

1. How many of these video tutorials can I expect to access by subscribing now?
2. Are they videos about Dreamweaver, about WA products or a mixture of both?
3. Will they be unavailable to non-subscribers - even if a non-subscriber owns a related product?

Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion; the starter kit is the same as a tutorial... so there is currently one tutorial. (When we launched the subscription program, we actually included the Database Starter Kit for PHP - which we now offer stand-alone). By the end of the month, we will roll at least one more tutorial into the subscription program. We're not "not willing" to give out information on this... I think we are just offering training in a new way (via this subscription program) and some people are a little unclear on what is included... and some oversights have been made as far as providing enough information to customers around this training... but not purposefully.

As far as what the CSS Designer Starter Kit is, the web team is working on getting content up so it will be more clear for folks. We used to sell it as a stand-alone training product so some customers own it from there - but we will no longer be offering training that comes with the subscription program stand-alone.

Here is an archived description I found of the CSS Designer Starter Kit:
The CSS Designers Starter Kit shows you how to look at your Fireworks comps with CSS-based layouts in mind and then gives you step-by-step instructions for converting those comps from either Fireworks into Dreamweaver. The CSS Designer Starter Kit includes a professionally-design comp and completed HTML and CSS layout which you can re-purpose as your own template, if desired. The training further illustrates how widths are calculated to properly include margins and widths. A bonus graphic design is included for you to practice on.

We'll get more information up on our website. Sometimes we realize what is lacking on our website due to feedback from you all - so please keep the feedback coming and please be patient with us as we try to react.

To summarize answers to your questions.

1. The answer is one right now - and at least one more by the end of the month.
2. The CSS Designer Starter Kit is a video about taking Fireworks comps and converting into html/CSS, using Dreamweaver. Our trainings are typically on more general content, such as databases, CSS or SEO, and come with sample files so you have real world scenarios.
3. Our training (other than Database Starter Kit for PHP) will no longer be available to non-subscribers, unless of course you have purchased a training in the past... we won't be taking it away from customers who own it. :)

Hope that is helpful!
