How do I add a flat rate shipping charge to specific parts of the world?

I would like to know if it is possible to add a flat rate shipping charge of $5.00 to specific parts of the world like all of Europe and all of the Pacific Areas (Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. Thanks in advance.

Yes. You would save a session variable with the selected country. Then you could create a shipping rule that checks the country value and adds the associated charge.

Is there a video on how to save a session variable and how to create shipping rules? So I have to do this session variable for all my items?
Thanks Ray!

You would probably set the variable on the cart_confirm page after customers fill out the shipping country. Set it to the value of the shipping country field and that way you only need to set one session variable and can set different charges based on its value.

Hey Ray,
Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, or I'm missing a step. I edited my e-cart and set the charges to 5.00 using the session variable that already existed on my confirm.php page for shipping country. Do I need to make a totally new variable for this? I have attached what my dialog box looks like on my e-cart page. Please let me know. It still charges $5.00 for every country.
Thanks in advance.

You have to use "based on session variable value" and check the country saved in the session not just the existence of it.

OK Ray,
I used "based on session variable value," entered the session name as: eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_country and I made it > 0. It returned a flat rate under my Charges tab of l$5.00 all fine and dandy. But it does it for all countries in the drop down menu on the confirm.php page. How do I check the country saved in the session? I must be getting close, eh? Thanks for your patience!

You create a new rule for each charge.

eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_country = US
flat rate: $5

eCartCheckoutForm_shipping_country = CA
flat rate: $10

and so on for each of the supported countries

Hey Ray,
Once again you totally Rock! Thank you again for your patience! I just haven't been myself lately. I'm a disabled veteran and lately I've been having speech and writing problems. Have a great day, eh?
All the best,
Dale
