validations

Hey Ray

Have a form where I am using validations and trying to create multiple options of messages depending on which input is blank / not blank

Basically, if both the first name or last name fields on the form are empty, I want the error message to say 'neither the first name nor last name can be blank'

but if one of the 2 fields has content, then I want the message to say 'first name cannot be blank' (or last name if the last name is blank and first name has content)

I *think* I am going wrong with the 2 <?php } else ?> but am not sure how to get them to work

<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "") || (strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
<span class="text-element elementRequired">
<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "") && (strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
neither
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(1,2:)
}
}
}?>
<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
first name
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(1:)
}
}
}?>
<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "") && (strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
nor
<php } else { ?>
or
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(1,2:)
}
}
}?>
<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
last name
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(2:)
}
}
}?>
<?php
if (ValidatedField('contact_522','contact_522')) {
if ((strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "1" . ",") !== false || "1" == "") && (strpos((",".ValidatedField("contact_522","contact_522").","), "," . "2" . ",") !== false || "2" == "")) {
if (!(false)) {
?>
can
<php } else { ?>
cannot
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(1,2:)
}
}
}?>
be blank </span>
<?php //WAFV_Conditional contact.php contact_522(1,2:)
}
}
}?>

Instead of hand coding the OR and Else statements I'd just use three separate validation show if server behaviors without any code edits.

1) If first name and last name fail around the message "neither the first name nor last name can be blank"
2) If first name fails and last name passes use "first name cannot be blank"
3) If last name fails and first name passes use "last name cannot be blank"
