sending mail using phpmailer instead of pear?

Hello all,
Yesterday one of my customers owning a website I developed with WA had to change all forms (submitting emails) changing the code to use phpmailer instead of pear. They say phpmailer is more reliable while pear is obsolete. And phpmailer worked succesfully since the very first time.
I know the new WA version is in a rush for release (or beta) but it there a any possibility to include phpmailer as mail engine along with pear?
What do you think?
TIA

Yes. I have already implemented phpmailer into the next DataBridge update to replace pear... although it will still support pear as well.
