Vertical Scrolling Limited

Just wondering why I might be having issues with a lack of vertical scrolling in my iRite editing box. Screen shot attached.

What settings did you change from the default in the iRite wizard? Also, what server language are you using on the page that this is occurring on?

'Straight out of the box' ...

It's very much 'straight out of the box', Jimmy. Certainly didn't change any settings manually. Using DW CS4, created a recordset and used the Update Record Wizard to create a form with a textarea where the content is. Then used iRite 1.0.2 to turn that into an editor.

In all the time I've been using iRite I don't think I've ever seen it work without that issue. Just had some spare time to investigate why.

The server is running PHP 5 (not sure exactly what version) and MySQL.

I've attached the file.

Are you using Safari? That's a problem that FCKeditor (even the latest version) has with Safari. It seems the more "standards based" a browser gets, the less it will put up with quirky javascript code. Even the brand new CKEditor has an issue that Safari doesn't like.

Safari

Yep, that's the one. Thanks for that, SOJO web.

I have been using TinyMCE previously which I really liked. Perhaps I'll stick to that ... "or switch to Firefox!" I can hear everyone thinking. I run Firefox but I tend to get a lot of Mac clients so it'd be good to look after them without forcing a new browser on them.

Thanks for your time anyway.

Baboosi,

One of the other problems with all the javascript editors is that objects are not selectable in Safari. I have used tinyMCE and that doesn't work well either with Safari.

On a side note while doing some testing last night, I noticed that on the latest FCKeditor, Safari will actually load it into the full window after about 6 to 7 seconds... so if you open and wait, it does correctly expand but objects were still not selectable.... so you can't select and resize and image or change the image attributes once it is in your content.

Updating to the latest version of CKEditor should solve the issue for you. Here's a thread that has instructions on how to update:

Hi Jimmy,

Yes, I can confirm that is easy to upgrade to the latest version of FCKeditor, but for some reason, even the very latest FCKeditor release is not great in Safari... objects still are not selectable. I have posted a few support questions with the FCKeditor development team and if I hear anything back about how to fix, I will certainly relay that here.

Cheers,

Brian
