display a querystring on a page using PHP? What is wrong with me? :(

Can someone please spare me from madness and explain how I display a querystring value on a PHP page?

<?php $_GET['dcID']; ?>

...doesn't work.

I'm trying to use the querystring value as the value for a form field:

<input type="text" value"<?php $_GET['dcID']; ?>" name="carselected" id="carselected">

Please help. Thank you.

EDIT:

This doesn't work either:

<input type="text" value"<?php echo((isset($_GET["dcID"]))?$_GET["dcID"]:"") ?>" name="carselected" id="carselected">

Are you sure that the dcID variable is in the url? (case sensitive)

Your syntax looks correct in the final example. You need to use echo() to write it to the page.

php:
<?php echo($_GET['dcID']); ?>

https://www.dreamcargalaxy.com/car-profile.php?dcID=110

Under the proceed to play button, it's a blank input field. I honestly think I'm going insane.

It should be this:

php:
<?php echo($_GET["dcID"]); ?>

...double quotes basically. I also had value"<?php echo($_GET["dcID"]); ?>" which was wrecking it to.

Jeezus.

Both single and double quotes should work the same in PHP... they are interchangeable as long as they match open and close.

Single quotes don't work. I tested it twice.

That is strange. I've never seen that before. It must be an odd php setting I've never heard of.
