Deleting multiple items with one delete checkbox

In my admin section on my edit record page I have a section that I can edit (ie: replace) a file that has been uploaded or delete that file. It works perfectly.
My question is this. Along with that file I have another field that is the Alt Text which is what the users see on the site instead of the file name. What I need to know is when the file is deleted, which deletes it from the db and the server can I delete the Alt text field from the same checkbox.
Delete code is below:

<?php
$WA_DeleteFileResult1 = false;
if((((isset($_POST["doc1del"]))?$_POST["doc1del"]:"") != "")){
$WA_DeleteFileResult1 = WA_FileAssist_DeleteFile("/documents/", "".($Recordset1->getColumnVal("document1")) ."");
}?>

Where the document itself is 'document1' the alt text is 'doc1AltText'
I just need it to empty that field when the file is deleted.

Thanks.

You should be able to apply the update database server behavior and use the same trigger to clear that field.

Tried this manually but obviously not correct. Have to wait till later to try the update sb at home.

$UpdateQuery->bindColumn("doc1AltText", "s", "".((isset($_POST["doc1del"]))?$_POST["del"]:"") ."", "WA_BLANK");

Thanks.

The line would probably just be:

$UpdateQuery->bindColumn("doc1AltText", "s", "", "WA_BLANK");

The trigger would be:
<?php echo((isset($_POST["doc1del"]))?$_POST["doc1del"]:"")); ?>

Try it at home when you have access to the server behaviors and let me know if you have issues.

Ok. I did it with the update behavior.. It deletes the text but now puts a 1 there..

Here is the code...

<?php
if ($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] == "POST") {
$UpdateQuery = new WA_MySQLi_Query($conn_mdb1);
$UpdateQuery->Action = "update";
$UpdateQuery->Table = "maintbl";
$UpdateQuery->bindColumn("doc1AltText", "s", "".((isset($_POST["doc1del"]))?$_POST["doc1del"]:"") ."", "WA_DEFAULT");
$UpdateQuery->addFilter("mainID", "=", "i", "".($_GET['mainID']) ."");
$UpdateQuery->execute();
$UpdateGoTo = "";
if (function_exists("rel2abs")) $UpdateGoTo = $UpdateGoTo?rel2abs($UpdateGoTo,dirname(__FILE__)):"";
$UpdateQuery->redirect($UpdateGoTo);
}
?>

I thought I did as you recommended. I did try changing the WA_DEFAULT to WA_BLANK Same result

Try:

php:
<?php

if ((((isset($_POST["doc1del"]))?$_POST["doc1del"]:"") != "")) {
$UpdateQuery = new WA_MySQLi_Query($conn_mdb1);
$UpdateQuery->Action "update";
$UpdateQuery->Table "maintbl";
$UpdateQuery->bindColumn("doc1AltText""s""""WA_BLANK");
$UpdateQuery->addFilter("mainID""=""i""".($_GET['mainID']) ."");
$UpdateQuery->execute();
$UpdateGoTo "";
if (
function_exists("rel2abs")) $UpdateGoTo $UpdateGoTo?rel2abs($UpdateGoTo,dirname(__FILE__)):"";
$UpdateQuery->redirect($UpdateGoTo);
}
?>

Great. thanks Ray.One of these days it will sink in.. I am trying to learn this stuff...

Now all I have to do is duplicate it for the other 14 alt texts...

Have a great one..
