Basis for Wordpress Plugin?

Any merit to using eCart as the core for a Wordpress Cart Plugin we need develop?

You could do it. I guess the merit would have to be evaluated against using an existing wordpress plugin and what you need it to do vs what is already possible. Then of course cost analysis. Wordpress is just a php site with a very specific framework defined, so anything of ours can be configured to work with it.

eCart would be used to ease the checkout process.

As far as other aspects we are running a unique set of table values to generate the end product costs. Ths means the actual product page and product generation would be handled separately.

There is no reason why that wouldn't be possible if that is what you wanted to do.
