Question on validation with images when updating

Question on validation with images when updating

On the attached update page, there are a couple of image uploads. It has the same validation as the insert page - to check images are selected, and also to check they are within a particular range for the width.

As it is, on the update page, the submit fails when submitted with the same images. ie if only something in the other fields is changed.

But if I remove the validation, it won't validate any new images selected.

So the question is how can I keep the validation to work in cases when the images are changed, but not prevent the form submitting if the images are not changed?

I have attached a copy of the page below.

Thanks.

Can't you just check the "allow blank entry" checkbox in the validation?
