Insecure Connection Warning

I am using eCart 5.0.7. The associated store is located in Florida so there is a sales tax charge from orders in that state. The cart works fine for all other orders, but when originating from Florida a security warning pops up that says: "The information you have entered on this page will be sent over an insecure connection and could be read by a third party. Are you sure you want to send this information?" This ONLY happens with Florida orders, the rest process without a problem whether via Paypal or credit card through Paypal advanced. Any ideas regarding how I can keep this warning from appearing? Thanks.

What is the url of your site? I'll take a look and see if I can spot the problem.

Thanks for taking time to look.

At what point do you see that message? The best solution is probably to get an SSL certificate. We sell them here for as little as $45 per year. That will allow you to checkout on a page that begins with https:// and will prevent any security warnings. It will also improve your google search engine rankings.

The checkout form must have the state of Florida listed. Then the confirmation page comes up....when you click on paypal the warning message comes up. It also comes up if you submit a credit card.

Can I get FTP access? I think it has something to do with going to the failure page. I'm not sure why it is failing in the first place.

You may need to get an SSL certificate installed to prevent this error when a payment fails, but I should be able to figure out why it is failing to begin with and get that resolved for now.

It is going to give that warning any time a transaction fails. It posts the failure reason to the page and since it comes from paypals https:// server it will give you that warning as it returns to your server without SSL. Getting a SSL certificate would resolve the problem.

I think the error you are getting is because you aren't putting in a valid florida shipping address. It actually evaluates that the zip code and city you enter matches the state. If you put in a full and valid florida address the payment works properly.

Hi Ray,
I just tried a transaction with the client's full and correct address in Florida and it returned the same warning. I'm wondering if there is a change on Paypal's end that is causing this. I have another client that just contacted me (using the same ecart with Paypal) where the transactions are not going through. That domain is www.blackgatefarms.com. The ftp info is below for this site.

It may be something that the updated. I think the best solution is to purchase and install an SSL certificate.

When they put in the correct address did they still get the error page, or did they get the message on the success page? I've added the error message to the top of the failure page so you can see the cause from paypal's perspective. That was how I saw the shipping address mismatch error in my tests.

The other site has credential issues. Maybe they updated their password recently and the site hasn't been updated. You can update the login information on confirm.php lines 151-152
