Cannot insert any records

Cannot insert any records

Hi,

First, I am very new at this, so please be patient.

I created a database using phpMyAdmin with a product table. After running the dataAssist wizard, I could view all the pages, search for data (I only have two records so far), view data, update data, but not insert data. When I open the insert page, fill in all the info and hit "insert" a new page opens with just one sentence (Duplicate entry '' for key 1). When I check the database, no new record has been added.

When I first created the table, I defined the first category "ProductID" as unique. I would also like to mention, that for the first category DataAssist did not generate a text field for data entry. So I added a text field in the code like this (input type="text" name="ProductID" id="ProductID" value="" size="32"), just like the other entry fields looked like. I thought with that I could fill in the ProductID, which is different for each product.

Could someone help me, and tell me what I am doing wrong?

In the Database, you should set the ProductID field to be a Primary Key field and set it to Auto Increment so that the database will mange the value being given to that column for you.
