smtp authentication

Hi,

I need to be able to send emails with UE by connecting with an external SMTP server which requires authentication. At present, it looks like UE doesnt' support this as it assumes the SMTP server used will be the one where the page is hosted.

Is there a way to change the code so that I can submit a password as part of the SMTP authentication?

Thanks

Pascal

What Server language are you using. In PHP, The Pear mail For SMTP Mail object gives the ability to pass authentication. In ASP, the CDOSYS mail object has the ability to send authentication to the SMTP Server as well.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your response and for pointing me in the right direction. I use PHP.

Should the path to PEAR be the one for the server where the site resides or the one to PEAR on remote server where the SMTP settings are? I am assuming this should be the path on the site's server.

Best

Yes, it should be the path to the Pear Installation on the Site.
