Just put iRite into a site for client to test

I can see the hyperlinks in the FCK LINK/EDIT pop (mark link in editor - click globe with chain) in Safari on Mac
and IE 7 on the PC

he cant?? - just blank text field when he goes to edit the links I've put in?

emailed screen capture attached

IE 8 seems to be the problem? see attached

I have done some testing and investigating on this and I can confirm your results. In IE8 this option to edit the link does not work properly, it will not load the value or the controls needed to update the value.

When I was looking for more info about this I found that this is a known bug in the version of FCK editor that iRite uses. In the bug report it is mentioned that the issue has been fixed, it looks like the latest version has the fix. It should be worth updating the FCK editor files in your site. Here is some info on how to do that:

Before updating, I would strongly recommend backing up the WA_iRite folder. Also note that we have not tested iRite with any newer version of the FCKEditor, so we will not be able to support it.
In the WA_iRite folder, there is a folder called "editor", replace this with the "editor" folder in the FCKEditor package download.

Any other files that are at the root of the WA_iRite folder that do not begin with WA should be replaced with the new ones from the FCKEditor download. It is important to make sure you do not replace files that begin with WA.

Keep in mind, that if you update the FCKEditor, you may cause other problems. Also, if you add the functionality for Image Upload, you will need to redo the steps for enabling it.

You can also update the source files for the extension so that you do not have to manually update the files in the site when you use the tool again. Here is a link to the thread that discusses updating the source files for the extension.

Thanks for info - I do appreciate it - but this is getting so frustrating.

I DON"T BUY EXTENSIONS TO FIX THINGS MYSELF!!!!! - YES I"M SHOUTING
Where's YOUR (WEBASSISTS) update/fix - don't you care that users or your products are loosing money?

I currently have ZERO clients able to use this extension.!!!!!!!

I would so much like to find a HTML editor (with file/images manager) that I can rely on.
That's why I buy extensions. If I have to fix and everything myself then I'm PAYING TWICE - once to you, the extension developer who is obviously helpful, but not in touch with its clients needs to update their software frequently enough to combat ongoing issues, and then again I pay because I loose time and money on the job with fixes like this. I might as well download the original files and work it out for myself.

Had another client call with exactly the same problem - what's the point in purchasing these extensions when they are not kept up to date?

An please NO - don't charge me for the next iRite version X. You guys really can't justify letting your customers hand fix extensions that you should be supplying updates for.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by not having this update incorporated into the current iRite release. I have been told by my manager that an update is planned for this product that will incorporate the latest FCKeditor. This should resolve this issue and others that you may be experiencing.

is that the latest FCK editor - which is now discontinued
or its replacement - the CK editor?

need a timeline on this and conformation that it will not be chargeable to current iRite users who are unable to use this (still for sale by webassist) product with current browsers
