dynamic flat rate shipping

Hi, ok in the eCart Merchandising Rule panel you can set a flat rate in the "create a flat rate shipping of $" box - if I click on the lighening bolt I need to have first create a recordset on a page (since the eCart object is sitewide it should matter what page I create the recordset on) I have a table in my database called settings (its just 1 record with many fields, one of which is flatrate shipping cost.

I originally did this a while ago and I had an error come up in one of the webassist library files (need to locate that error).

however what is the correct way of using the lightening bold for the create a flat rate shipping of $ in the ecart object?

attaching a screenshot

I assume I need to place the recordset inside one of the webassist generated library files since this recordset isnt really used for frontend website page use.

You should use the recordset to save a session variable with the rate, then specify that session variable in this interface. Don't use the recordset because it may not exist on all of the pages where the cart is used.

Thanks, to be honest I may use my settings table to store other generic things for sitewide usage. so I could place the recordset inside a global php file thats loaded in all pages. Otherwise will go with the session direction :)

Side note: I mentioned a bug which i didn't replicate in this instance....I am thinking now that the bug occurred when I had copied/pasted the code directly into the ecart object interface (rather than using the lightening bolt) But I could be wrong. I need to replicate the bug as when it occurred a while ago, I had a synax error in one of the webassist ecart library files (which obviously I never touched...so interesting that there was a syntax error in there).
