Place order with $0.00 for the total

I have a cart that should only allow orders submitted to be paid with credit cards. However, my customer wants to us offer FREE introduction orders using a discount code. When the customer places the order and the grand total is zero, they are still being presented with the credit card payment fields and are getting stuck there. What can I do to allow an order with a zero total be processed?

You have to add IF statements to check the total and not show or validate those fields. Also you would want it to skip over any payment gateway since paypal and authorize.net won't process $0 transactions. This is something I could help with in a premium support ticket.
