Jamie

modifying a SELECT

hey Ray

Just wondering how I would incorporate the options side of things from this SELECT

SELECT products.*, productcategories.*, (SELECT sum(OptionPrice) FROM optiongroups INNER JOIN options ON options.OptionGroupID = optiongroups.OptionGroupID WHERE OptionProductID=ProductID) AS OptionPrice FROM products INNER JOIN productcategories ON products.ProductCategoryID = productcategories.CategoryID WHERE products.ProductID = ? OR products.ProdPermalink = ? AND products.ProductLive = 1

into this SELECT

SELECT productcategories.CategoryName, productcategories_2.CategoryName AS parentcategoryname, productcategories.CatPermalink, productcategories_2.CatPermalink AS parentpermalink, products.* FROM productcategories INNER JOIN productcategories AS productcategories_2 ON productcategories_2.CategoryID = productcategories.CategoryParentID LEFT OUTER JOIN products ON products.ProductCategoryID = productcategories.CategoryID WHERE products.ProdPermalink = ? AND products.ProductLive = 1 ORDER BY productcategories.CategoryOrder ASC

What do you mean by "options side of things"?

The first select statement only gets the total of the OptionPrice column... is that what you are trying to get in the second select list.

Well, am trying to incorporate the options elements that the client is able to add to each product so that the site visitor is able (if required) make choices to a product...

I think it might make sense to use a separate recordset in that case.
