DFP - Update - Not keeping exisiting file

When I hit update after installing the digital file pro extension, the file does not keep the original attached files.

have you looked into the "How to apply Digital File Pro to DataAssist Insert and Update pages" Tutorial that is available on the Digital File Pro Support page:

On an update page, you need to create a hidden form element and set the value for the hidden form element to come from the file name column of the database. Then in the DFP server behavior, set the default file to get the value stored in the hidden form element.
