Adding a textarea field for "Instructions to seller" to the checkout page and have it save to database on successful payment?

Nathon Jones Web Design

Adding a textarea field for "Instructions to seller" to the checkout page and have it save to database on successful payment?

How difficult is this? Is there a good guide for this somewhere?

I need to allow users to be able to fill in any instructions to the seller and have it save to database, obviously, once the payment has been accepted.

It also needs validation to prevent submission of code / links/ nasties etc.

Thank you.

You can just add the field to the checkout page and update the validation on the confirm_cart.php page.

It will be automatically persisted with the persist form server behavior already applied, so you can then add a column to your orders table and bind it just like the other fields already there.
