Cannot insert or update date value

Hello,
I hope there is anybody out there who can give me some assistance because this is driving me nuts.
Dates are stored and displayed as YYYY-mm-dd. But when I try to update or insert a date value the result is always "1970-01-01". Is it a bug in MySQLi Server Behaviors? This has never been an issue before I changed to MySQLi.

Input field looks like this:
<input name="VzmDatum" type="date" id="VzmDatum" value="<?php echo($RsVZEdit->getColumnVal("datum")); ?>" data-provide="datepicker" data-date-format="yyyy-mm-dd" />

Many thanks in advance,
Peter

Do you have a sample page I can look at? I'd have to debug this. I may even need FTP access.

MySQLi should be able to convert and use the correct date format even if it is passed in standard date format, so I'm really not sure why it isn't working and need to test to determine what is going on.
