Display random records or next 5 records when a page is refrshed

The database will have around 120 records

On the results page I do not want to use pagination

I want to display 5 records in either of two ways

When the page is refreshed by a user:

Option 1 - display the next five records

Option 2 - display 5 more records randomly

The other way that seems to be popular is a more button at the bottom of the page which I guess is similar to pagination except the records appear to load on the same page which is probably complicated

Can you give some guidance in particular on options 1 & 2

Thank you - Mel

To show a random set of rows you can use: ORDER BY RAND()

Just add that to the end of your SQL statement.

To automatically show the next 5 rows you would probably have to add a session variable to keep track of the current page and increment it by one with each page refresh. Then you can add code above the recordset to set the page number variable to the value of the session variable.
