Single table dropdown list

Single table dropdown list

How does one use the Dynamic Dropdown extension for the State field in the Registration Solution Pack such that registrants can select a state name from a list (states table). The submit would then save the stateID in the registrants record but the Update Profile page would always display the state name in the combobox.
Thanks.

This would not use the Dynamic Dropdowns extension.

you would need to create a state table. The state table would have a primary key column, it would be numeric and set to auto increment, and a stateName column

go through and populate the stateName column with the names of the 50 states.

In the Users table, the state column will store the ID number of the selected state.

Create a recordset that will return all records from the state name table.

Click the state select list in design view and click the Dynamic button, set the list to use the state name recordset. Set the Value to the ID column and the label to the stateName column.

On the profile page, create the state recordset again.

Set the state Select list up the same as on the registration page. This time though, click the lightning bolt next to Select Value Equal To, expand the Recordset that is used to retrieve the users information and select the state column
