This might help: http://www.webassist.com/tutorials/Deprecated-Server-Behaviors-for-Dreamweaver-Creative-Cloud
It's for Creative Cloud, not cs6, and I can't remember how I did it for cs6, but might give you a few more words to search for on WebAssist forums.

Hi Jamie, sorry if I put incorrectly, what I meant to say was server behaviour add on that we normally download from adobe. The cc server behaviour add on I can't seem to find how to add the image thumb dynamically to web page? In the cs6 this function was available through insert image then data sources then select dynamic image with cc they got rid of this now I've done downloaded cs6 thought it might be easier to work with now I can't find the server behaviour add on ?

Kind regards

CS6 has server behaviors by default and you don't need an add on. In more recent versions you can still set a dynamic image source by using the bindings panel.

If just the path is showing on the page when you browse it then go to code view and wrap it in an image tag:

<img src="[path]">

Your code looks correct. In dreamweaver you won't see an image. The image should display when you view the live page.
