Shipping method not properly setting

Hello,
We found in an eCart site that has been operating for a long time that if a customer selects a faster rate, while the page updates and shows the increased cost and faster shipping method the update is not sticking and only the default "ground" shipping method is selected on final setting of the order.

How best to render echo out the Insert query to see why this is happening?

Further review shows that some orders have been successful in selecting 2 day shipping while our last one was not.

The attached screen shot shows the latest order as well as one prior that successfully applied the premium shipping selection...

I own all the latest extensions and can upgrade this cart from it's original version to the latest if it would solve the problem (glitch). But at the same time do not want to create an extensive re-write.

It looks like there is quite a bit of custom code controlling the shipping. It is too hard for me to debug by just looking at it.

We would have to debug it in a screen sharing session after narrowing down exactly when it happens so we can reproduce it. I'd suggest a premier support ticket so that we can work with you directly on this and get it resolved.

Ray,
The custom code was written in a prior purchased premium ticket with Jason I believe...

Thanks Ray, but being as it seems to not be repeatable I'm holding out to see if we can spot a recurring case.

Yes we would have to be able to repeat it to fix it. Fixing web sites is like fixing cars. If you take your car to the shop and tell them it won't start, then when the mechanic turns the key it starts right up... they can't really fix it.

If you can't reproduce an issue on a web site and you do something to try to fix it... how would you test if your fix worked?

We first need to identify how to cause the problem. Maybe do more testing and try different things on the site until you get the problem to happen. Try using the same address and cart items from somebody that had the problem in the past.

Once I can see a problem, I can fix it... so work on that and post back here once you have steps to reproduce and I'll help you fix it from there.
