Products are not visible in parent categories and customers are having issues finding products

There is an issue with the categorization of products.
Products are only showing up in subcategories but are not visible in thier primary categories.
This is posing a big issue with customers trying to search for products.

Please advise.
I would like for my products to be visible in parent categories and the appropriate and the appropriate sub categegory.

You have the option to add products to either parent or sub-categories, or both. When you update the product, use cntrl+click to select both the parent category and the sub-category from the categories list. They do not automatically appear in the parent categories if they aren't specified to appear there.
