MySQLi & Data Bridge

I'm sorry to beat an old horse to death, but this is getting really irritating.

1: 10 Months ago you released MySQLi
2: We are still waiting for DataBridge to become MySQLi compatable. (not to mention design extender)

Our choice is either to build websites with MySQLi that can't utilize any of your popular extensions we have bought into, or use DataBridge but ignore MySQLi which is suppose to be connection of choice.

Forgive me for being very disappointed in your lack of pre-planning. I am seriously regretting my choice in going with Web Assist.

We updated eCart to work with mySQLi and are now working on Data Bridge. Data Bridge was developed over many years and has to basically be re-written since almost every interface in it interacts with the database. We are as anxious to get it done as you are to have it, but we are a small company and can only devote the resources we have to working on it. It is a top priority for us and we are working on it currently.

Hi Ray

I guess you should have extended the current functionalities of the Data Bridge first and work on a complete new product beside. MySQLi is needed for php 6 and many providers/webservers will still run with 5.3 for years. I think you set the wrong priorities here.

The "Product suggestions" are somehow lost too, because we don't get any feedback from you, what you will implement into the next version of Data Bridge. Or will you just move to mySQLi without new features?

Please consider this post as helpful thoughts from a long year customer.

Thanks for any comments on this in advance.

p.s. your support rocks, but development of new products/features is really falling behind. You should probably consider hiring additional programmers...

Ray... sorry for the testy post, and thank you for your reply. I do understand that you are a small company doing what you can... and for the most part I'd say you do a wonderful job.

My frustration lays with the fact that nearly one year since it's release (MySQLi) I still have to choose between making an outstanding feature rich yet obsolete site with DataBridge.... or I can create a basic site (ala Dreamweaver style Extensions) that uses "future ready code".

I fully agree with your frustration. We will do our best to get the update out as soon as possible. We are making steps in that direction and sincerely hope to have it all working properly soon.

Thanks for your reply, Ray. Looking forward to the next version.

But what does "soon" mean? 1 month, end of 2nd quarter? Or half a year?

I really can't say for sure... because we are such a small company, interruptions happen. Dreamweaver comes out with a new version and it breaks everything, or MAC OS is updated and we have to re-work everything, or a big announcement about Google and mobile design forces us to divert some resources to another project.

All of those things have happened in the past quarter. We originally planned to have it out this month, but that didn't happen. Giving dates gets us into trouble when delays happen, so I can only say as soon as possible.
