Text Copy & Paste Problems in DW Textarea Fields

Hi:

I know this is a very DW difficulty, but maybe you can shed some light on how to solve it.

In one of my Cloud Programs, I’ve created sequences that allow Administrative Users to update text and photos on their company’s Website. However, when copying and pasting text from MSWord into DW Textareas, those areas don’t recognize orthographical elements like apostrophes (i.e., it substitutes question marks and other nonsense for apostrophes)

In addition, DW Textareas don’t allow for users to separate the entered text into paragraphs.

Any suggestions on how to solve this little problem?

Thank you for your attention.

use a rich text editing script such as HTML Editor instead of a standard text area.

HTML Editor is based on the CKEditor script, you can see a demo here:
http://ckeditor.com/demo

in the toolbar, use the Clipboard icon with the w on in it, that is the paste from word tool. Word contains a lot of formatting that will not be valid, such as right and left angled quotes which are causing your ? symbol.

the past from word tool will strip harmful word formatting, but retain paragraphs.

Hi Jason:

Your proposed solution looks like the perfect one. I downloaded CKEditor and extracted the Zipped files into the root folder of the Website in question. Then I tried following the instructions as written in http://docs.ckeditor.com/#!/guide/dev_installation but I’m not getting the desired results.

I copied (and adapted) the code listed there into my page but when I test the page at the local level either I get a second text-field-like window placed outside the page with some text written in it, or no changes at all.

I’ve looked for a solution on Google and I’ve found some threads about it, but still no clear explanation on how to make CKEditor work in DW.

Any suggestions on this?

Thank you for your attention.

Use Data Bridge which includes HTML Editor to apply CKEditor to your text area fields.
