Item Details are not carried over to PayPal using Checkout With PayPal button

Item Details are not carried over to PayPal using Checkout With PayPal button

This is a PayPal Payments Advanced setup w/ Express Checkout also.

The iframe page shows up with;
-Pay now CHECKOUT WITH PayPal
-Pay later PayPal CREDIT
-Pay with credit or debit card ...

However, when clicking on "Pay now" and going to PayPal to login, only the total dollar amount is shown. Item name(s), shipping and tax are not listed.

In my other Express Checkout, there is a little down arrow below the total that, if clicked, shows the basic details.

How are these details included in the Advanced setup for Express Checkout?

Thanks,
TroyD

paypal advanced requires SSL to work properly, you won't be able to properly test paypal advanced checkout from your local computer, to properly test paypal advanced, it will need to be uploaded to a live site that uses SSL.

Jason,

Ok. I will create a test server online. And sorry about overlooking the SSL. It's just that when I talked to the engineers at PayPal and mentioned that I still need to setup the SSL, they told me it was not needed for the hosted page coming in through an iframe. So I didn't even think about that being the problem.

I will assign an SSL to the test server as well and once I have it all ready, I will reply back to you in a PM with login information.

Thanks

Looks joke this is a limitation to the hosted checkout pages for paypal advanced.

From the documentation:
https://www.paypalobjects.com/webstatic/en_US/developer/docs/pdf/payflowgateway_guide.pdf

on page 132:

  L_NAMEn (Optional) Line-item name.
NOTE: To enable line-item support, send an email from the Primary email address on
the account to payflow-support@paypal.com

Starting on page 40, is the section for customizing the hosted checkout pages, the sample images shows Subtotal and tax only, The customizing instructions don't show a way to show the item name and details.

I can see in our code that we are passing the values to paypal, So you will need to contact them to find out if it possible to display those values.

Isn't that for the Payflow gateway though?
I know the direct payment with credit card won't carry the details, but I thought the Express checkout part would.
Clicking on "Pay with PayPal" is an Express Checkout...right? This account has both.

Also, on the checkout.php page for the generic cart example, I viewed source and I don't see where the item details are passed.

BTW. Were you able to login to the ftp provided?

Thanks,
TroyD

The Payflow gateway is used by the Paypal Advanced system, that is the checkout method you set up. This does not use Express Checkout.

that is a completely separate API.

the code that passes info to the gateway is in the webassist/ecart/PP_PayAdv_PHP.php file.

If you would prefer to use PayAl Express, you can recreate the checkout page s and select To Rely on the Gateway for Secure Checkout, and select PayPal Express.
