Detail about Categories & SubCategories

I want to know few details about how Cat & SubCat works.

Lets say for instance i got 3 products: x, y & z.

3 Cat: a, b & c
3 SubCat: 1, 2 & 3.

Moving along with above example.

Cat 'a' has two SubCat '1 & 3'
Cat 'b' has two SubCat '2 & 3'
Cat 'c' has three SubCat '1, 2 & 3'

Each product has Cat & SubCat.

I know how to display all Cat using repeat region but not with SubCat

Expected result, Example below:

<li><a href="#">a</a>
<ul>
<li><a href="#">1</a></li>
<li><a href="#">3 </a></li>

</ul>
</li>

<li><a href="#">b </a>
<ul>
<li><a href="#">2</a></li>
<li><a href="#">3 </a></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><a href="#">c </a>
<ul>
<li><a href="#">1</a></li>
<li><a href="#">2</a></li>
<li><a href="#">3 </a></li>
</ul>
</li>

You could create a category results page and a separate subcategory results page... filter the subcategory results with a url parameter that is the category ID from the first category table.

Then use an include to include a new copy of the subcategory results after each category result... or if you are only showing one category per page then you could add it in with framework builder using a plugin.
