Shipping Address

Is it necessary to have customer address or shipping address to use PayPal Pro. I have a product that is not shipped in the normal way so all that is actually required is a name and an email address for a purchase.

No, it is not required to have the shipping address for PayPal Pro.

In the eCart 6 wizard, on the shipping tab, you can uncheck the option to include the shipping fields in the checkout form.

Sorry I should have been more clearer. I meant any address at all. The customer wants it so that all that is required is an email address and a name to purchase.

The address is not required by PayPal, but the code generated by the wizard will require the Billing address at least, you can edit the code to remove the boiling address fields and remove the validation if you like.

I have tried to do this but if I select PayPal as the payment type, select NZ as the country and then clear the "State" field. The form submits OK, goes to PayPal and then comes straight back again with no errors. It will continue to loop like this until you include a value in the "State" field.

To duplicate the above go to http://www.championnutrition.net.nz. There are two test products to add to the shopping cart by going to "Nutrition and Training -> Competition Prep Packages" and scrolling to the very bottom. Fill out the details and select "New Zealand" for the country. NZ doesn't have any states or provinces so you should be able to clear the N/A from this field and the form should submit to PayPal. But it only works if you leave the N/A there.

I'll need to troubleshoot directly, see the private message section.

OK I have made some progress. I ran the checkout wizard again and de-selected the option for adding a shipping address. Now if you select PayPal as the payment option, there is no form just the button to pay by paypal. Great! Just what I wanted.

BUT if you select credit card as the option and remove the client side validation for say the Phone Number and the server side validation which I believe is located in the file "confirm_cart.php" and click the continue button the ajax form for entering you credit card details will not appear.
