Can I use Universal E-mail on a .html page?

My client has a heap of contact forms on every .html page of their website. We recently transferred this in from their previous provider and, since we've done so, none of the forms work. The site currently uses PHPMailer - PHP email class, version: 5.2.2 and the forms simply aren't sending.

I'd like to get these working and was thinking I could use Universal E-mail however the pages are .html and I can't afford to spend time converting them all to .php pages.

Is there a way to work around this? Or will I have to just try and get PHP Mailer working?

Thank you.
NJ

EDIT: Nevermind - I updated the PHPMailer code and it seems to have done the trick. Is version 5.2.9 now.

Just for future reference, UE cannot be applied to a .html page.

the work around would be to set the form action on the .html page to post to another php page that you create, and apply UE to the new php page.

Does the PHP page that I direct the .html page to have to have header / body etc or can it just be the PHP script for UE? Sorry if I've confused that but phpmailer seems to point from a .html page to a .php but the PHP page is purely script.

Thank you.

The php page can have only the UE behavior on it.
