Display text or image using Show If dependent on date in database

I'm trying to build in a 'traffic light' system on my results page which will show an image or text depending on the date in the recordset. For example, all records with a date 6 months or less in the future would display a red image, records between 6-12 months would display amber and between 12-18 months would be green. I have tried the following but it doesn't work:

<?php if ($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'] > 'DATE_ADD(now(), INTERVAL 6 MONTH') { // Show if column... ?>
<img src="red.png"/>
<?php } // Show if column... ?>

If I use > as the operator it doesn't display regardless of the date, if I use < it displays on all of them. Any ideas how I can get this to work?

DATE_ADD(now(), INTERVAL 6 MONTH is SQL code, not PHP.

try using the date and strtotime functions instead:

<?php if(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) > date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+6 months"))) { // Show if column... ?>
<img src="red.png"/>
<?php } // Show if column... ?>

Ah, I just discovered a problem - I now have 6 images, one of which should appear when a date is within 1 month, 2 months... up to 6 months. All 6 images appear when the code is <?php if(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) > date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+6 months"))) { // Show if column... ?>

I need to hide the other images so I think the strtotime function needs to change - rather than saying > 2 months for example, I actually need to say 'between 1 month and 2 months,' so that the images in the other Show Ifs don't show - how would I change it to do that?

for between + 1 month and +2 month would be:

<?php if((date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) > date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+1 months"))) && (date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) < date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+2 months")))) { // Show if column... ?>

Thank you, works like a dream - although I changed the operator to >= otherwise any date that's exactly x months in advance didn't show any image at all. I also changed it to days instead of months so that I could be more accurate, i.e.:

<?php if((date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) >= date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+31 days"))) && (date("Y-m-d", strtotime($row_WADAclients['StagingDate'])) < date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+60 days")))) { // Show if column... ?>

Thanks again!
