Unable to install DataAssist on DW 2014 1 - could not connect to webassist server

Upgraded DW CC to DW CC 2014.1 on opening DW the 'Installing Data Assist' dialogue starts at Step 1 then does not get any further - it displays an error message: ERROR could not connect to webassist server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet.

Yes, I am connected to the internet

I have deleted the DW cache, uninstalled/reinstalled all WA extensions (several times), reinstalled the Extension manager etc. No change.
Help please?

Do you have an antivirus program or fire wall running that is blocking access to the web assist servers through Dreamweaver?

try disabling antivirus and fire wall during the install.

also, double check the amount of free space available in the C Drive.

if you don't have enough free space, it won't be able to save the install files.
