create a custom login/logout secure area

I am trying to create a simple login / logout feature and have certain pages accessible once logged in but i don't want to use the 'Create Security pages' feature because I want to keep it simple. I have create my form which is just username and password, I have the Database table that will supply the values and ID. I have added an 'Authenticate User' behaviour to the page, attached the values to the appropriate column and used the ID column as the session variable.

Assuming all the above is correct I now need to be able have a 'Logout' button and I think I need to use the 'Clear Session Variables' cookie. Is this correct and if so how and where do I do this?

Thanks!

So to protect access to pages, you will need to create an access rule.

Go to WebAssist -> Security Assist -> Manage Site Access -> Access Rules manager

Create a new rule for logged in users as:

Allow If:
Vlaue: Click the lightning bolt icon and select the ID Session created by the login
Criteria: <> (This means not equal to)
Compare To: Leave this blank.

the use the restrict access server behavior on the page to restrict access to.

for the log out, create a logout page, add the clear session server behavior to it and use the before page load trigger. your logout links should point to the logout page.
